Our flock was first established here in 2015. Since inheriting them with the farm in 2022, we have worked to know each individual under our care -- our "matriarchs," our breeding rams, the quality of fleece each grows and passes down through family lineage, any health related issues throughout the year, and specific weather conditions impacting the quality of pastures and our management. Each year brings different challenges, and each sheared fleece tells the story of a life lived.
While the Clun Forest breed is wonderfully consistent in fleece production -- a "down breed" producing creamy white, thick wool with a high crimp measuring anywhere from 3.5 to 5.5 inches in staple length -- some are just softer and silkier. Through careful sorting, we find the right use for each one. Below is a current list of products. We endeavor to keep the wool as close to home as possible, partnering with nearby mills for many of the end products.

Clun Forest - premium and blend
Our natural, un-dyed yarn is selected from the finest fleeces in our flock and offered in three different options. All reflect a rustic elegance defined by the Clun's dense, uniform locks and wonderful springiness. With a lot of elasticity, the yarn is both soft and durable, making it a favorite for a variety of projects, particularly hardworking items like sweaters, hats, and gloves.
1. Abigail+co. Abigail is one of the original ewes to our flock and grows an exceptionally soft fleece passed down through her lineage. We sorted the best of her fleece along with that of her daughters, granddaughter, and great grandson (Annie, Alison, Amanda Ivy, and Kai). This yarn was spun by Skagit Woolen Works on the mainland and is Clun Forest wool at it's finest!

2. Clun Forest Lambswool. With the best fleeces from our 2024 lambs, Skagit Woolen Works spun a 100% lambswool yarn. A bit fuller and chunkier, this yarn is great for so many projects. The natural color is a bit more gray than the creamy white of their parents and has a nice, sturdy feel.
Content: 100% Clun Forest Lambswool
Length/Weight: 180y / 4oz
Weight: 3-ply, worsted
3. Clun Forest-Teeswater blend. Combining the crimpy, springy loft of the Clun Forest with the longer staple length of the Teeswater gives this yarn a bit more of a refined feel. This small batch was spun by Abundant Earth Fiber Mill in their last year on Whidbey Island as we experimented with spinning the Clun Forest lighter for a sock yarn. This blend maintains the natural creamy white color and takes up dye beautifully.
Content: 85% Clun Forest / 15% Teesewater
Length/Weight: 200y / 3.5oz
Weight: 3-ply, DK
